Welcome to my website. My name is Tracey Passingham a professional, qualified and experienced Integrative Counsellor of over 10 years based in East Tilbury, Essex, offering counselling to individual adults and teenagers.
I am a member of the National Counselling Society (NCS) and adhere to their ethical framework and code of conduct, offering a confidential, empathetic, non-judgemental service to my clients. My sessions take place either face to face from my therapy room in East Tilbury, or online via Skype or Zoom.
I gained my Degree in counselling in 2009 with Middlesex University. After completing my Degree I continued my studies and trained to Diploma level in Hypnotherapy and to Practitioner level in NLP. I am also a Certified Life Coach, and have recently completed training in Attachment Styles. All of my training is now incorporate into my practice, and can be offered as a stand alone therapy or alternatively integrated into sessions to best meet the needs of my clients.
Over the course of my counselling career I have worked both in the public and voluntary sector. However whatever it is that brings clients to therapy, my aim is to facilitate their own self awareness by providing a trusting and supportive counselling relationship to assist them in becoming more self empowered and feeling more in control of their own lives. Supporting clients to make positive changes and to move forward with their lives was my main motivation for undertaking training to become a counsellor and this ethos still holds true for me all these years later.

Integrative Counselling combines different therapeutic tools and approaches to fit the needs of the client. My Integrative approach combines the following therapeutic approaches :
Person-Centred: Will help you to explore your own issues, feelings, beliefs, behaviour, and worldview, so you can become more self-aware and achieve greater independence. You will be encouraged to bring your own issues to the session – the counselling session is led by you and not directed me.
CBT- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy: Can support you to identify irrational thoughts and how these thoughts are interlinked with the resulting emotion(s) and behaviour, which can then go on to develop into negative patterns impacting your life. I can help clients to work to overcome their negative patterns by replacing them with more postive ones.
Solution Focus Therapy: Rather than staying in the problem! I use Solution Focused Therapy to support you to explore your options in order to support you to identify more positive choices in order to overcome an issue and to move forward.
Hypnotherapy: Uses guided relaxation and imagery techniques to create a trance state in which your suggestibility increases to encourage positive changes to deal with a variety of issues. The use of Hypnotherapy within my practice is used for reducing stress and anxiety, increasing self-esteem, confidence and motivation. This can be used as a stand alone therapy or in conjunction with my other approaches in session.
NLP-Neuro Lingustic Programming: Improves the way you interact, communicate and understand others. It can help to promote self-esteem, motivation and can impact positively on all aspects of your life.
Psychodynamic Approach: Can help you understand how past experiences, current ways of thinking and relating your anxieties about the future are causing difficulties in your present life. This approach is based on the assumptions that part of our mind operates outside of our conscious awareness and that early experiences in life are important in later development. These experiences lay down patterns of relating to others, of dealing with feelings and life’s challenges. By exploring these patterns in more depth, you can build a greater understanding of your current difficulties.
Life Coaching: Empowers you to meet and exceed you goals in your personal or professional life. I support you to identify the resources you already have, as well as the ones you may need in order to plan and work towards whatever your life goals are.
Good counselling provides a place of safety and calm outside the usual day to day pace of life; somewhere to look at your life from a different perspective. I tailor my sessions to meet your uniqueness and support you to discover new choices, focus on change and find clarity. The aim is to help you develop insight into your own problems and discover your own resources to draw on. The process of counselling can help you to feel more in control of your life choices and increase your sense of empowerment.
I offer a free initial 30min. consultation of your situation and how we can best work together. This gives us the chance discuss and agree important issues such as a commitment to privacy and confidentiality.
Sessions last for an hour, giving you the time and space to explore various aspects of your life and feelings, talking about them freely and openly in a way that is rarely possible with friends or family. Bottled up feelings such as anger, anxiety, grief and embarrassment could become very intense and counselling offers an opportunity to explore them safely, understand them better, and resolve or transform them in a positive way. I don't impose limits on the number of sessions you may have, as most clients know themselves when they are ready to end. Many clients who have completed counselling with me come back, either for an occasional "top up" session, or to deal with new issues or life events which may arise.
Counselling sessions can be booked to take place either at my practice in East Tilbury or online via Skype or Zoom depending on your preference.
Session Fees: Fees per 1hr session are £40.
Parking: There are no parking restrictions and always plenty of spaces.
Appointment Times: Weekday evenings from 5pm onwards.
